Talking About Sadiq Khan’s require decriminalisation of cannabis, Ed Davies, Supervisor of Research at the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ), said:
“We spent a year analysing nations that have decriminalised or legalised marijuana. The lessons were definitely clear: any liberalisation risks a rise in mental illness, addiction, and drug-related injuries and death.
“Around a quarter of 18 – 34 year olds informed us they would attempt it. We spent a day with the New York police and saw that the legalisation of marijuana had efficiently decriminalised all drugs and was taking a severe toll on the city.
“Far from removing the market it had actually merely produced a two-tier legal and prohibited market.
“There must be no doubt. Any type of liberalisation in medicine laws will certainly have dreadful consequences for London.”
